The version on their site is a 30 day evaluation, but you can grab a copy of an unofficial free X-Chat build for Windows here. Last edited by ConceptualMind, July 25th, 2005 04:38 AM (Edited 1 times) yeah Xchat or irssi. Bitchx is also pretty good, apparently. ___________________ irc.efnet.net #neverside
mIRC is most likley the best if your looking for tons upon tons of scripts.. ___________________
X-Chat is my favorite (largely because I'm an open-source software advocate). Irssi is really nice in features too, but you have to run it from a terminal/console. No GUI. :P ___________________
Ah, thanks. I wasn't aware there was a free Windows build. I'm using a PC for a while and the 30 day trial had expired. I had to use the IRC client in UT2k4. mIRC is really good, especially if you get the NoNameScript addon for it from http://www.nnscript.de Xchat is the best, except it uses GTK+, which has problems with my mouse. For whatever reason my cursor moves slower while a GTK window is active. Trillian has IRC support too, although it's...exactly what you'd expect from Trillian as far as options go. The free win build is perfectly legit, in fact the xchat owner even points it out in one of his FAQ's. ___________________
I didn't know that either. Thanks. Oddly enough, this post started because I saw some screenshots of peoples desktops and saw XChat on it. Got me wondering if it was some sort of irc client. Then I got to thinking if there was somthing better than mIRC out there. Thanks for the input, definatly going to try XChat out! |
