I think what we need to think about is what are we going to be paying after a year is up. Sure, it is a grand deal right now.

Personally, I want to be with a host long-term.

The biggest thing I'd find out is if they're really any good.

Not just by asking a buddy, "Hey, is DreamHost good?" But by seeing if they're a legit business and seeing if they have any BBB complaints.

If all checks out then $9 for the year with a domain is a great beginning to a beautiful relationship.

Put it like this: If they do turn out to be crap (no compaints so far) then you've only wasted $9! You can just ditch it and move.

On the whole, I've only heard good things about Dreamhost. Best to send them a few emails and look at webhostingtalk too. I've been looking into them for a while now, and they've dropped their prices (not the promotion).

I looked at WHT a while ago, and some people had complaints with Dreamhost. Some people said they have bad support, but most people love them. All hosts have their ups and downs, right?

actually.. i already have one, haha. i was thinking it wouldn't work myself, but i have $97 in my rewards section. i even emailed them because i forgot to change from the 10% to $97 before the referral went through, and they changed it for me. i referred two others but never got any credit from them, so maybe i just got lucky.

and tp whoever said they heard dreamhost has bad support, i had problems signing up and they replied within a few hours and were extremely helpful and nice.

I think I'll go with Dreamhost next time I get a website up.
