Pentium M?
Are they really that great? I want to get a laptop that will run a pretty good amount of games, and I was wondering if I should get a pentium M? Is there anyway to kind of see what their equivalent of a Penium 4 would be?
thanks

I want to get a laptop that will run a pretty good amount of games, and I was wondering if I should get a pentium M? Is there anyway to kind of see what their equivalent of a Penium 4 would be? thanks My laptop has a Pentium M, runs surprisingly well actually. I'm happy with it, it runs quieter and doesn't heat up as much as some other laptops I've used. Mine can handle any game I've thrown at it so far, but it's only 1.6ghz and with my laptops 64mb mobile radeon card it can handle things like NFS Underground and Half Life 2, haven't tried anymore demanding games than HL2. ___________________
The fastest P-M last time I check kicked the fastest single core P4's in gaming. It uses a much shorter and efficient pipeline then the P4's. IIRC a 1.8ghz P-M performed slightly worse then an A64 3500+. ___________________ Back in the states. Sounds pretty nice. It plays half-Life 2 pretty well? That sounds good. edit: sorry I pressed the wrong button. As for a p4 over a P-M the PM is much better per clock but it is expensive aswell. You should look for more comparitive benchmarks and the prices before making that decision. ___________________ Back in the states. My P-M 1.6 + 1 gig ram + 128 meg pci-e atix300 mobility plays hl2 and u2k4 very smoothly. for day to day, it's outpreformed my p4 desktop, but it also has twice as much memory, so cant compare ___________________ http://www.philbrodeur.com - Expert PHP Development and Tutorials Last edited by Phil, July 22nd, 2005 01:49 AM (Edited 1 times) IMO, I would get a Pentium M because of power usage, how silent it is and the performace. ___________________ <sig here> Even when doing graphic design and rendering, etc? the M would generally be better than the P4? no the P4's strongpoint is encoding and rendering ___________________ <sig here> |
