cut off a char

When I try to cut out something from the picture to another one, there is always some unwanted materials around the picture I cut out. How to avoid this problem? I tried to use erase but it takes so long time and still some unwanted leaves

Any suggestions?

From experience, I've never actually been able to solve it. The only thing I could think of doing would be using a lasso tool or something to cut it really close. I've never actually been able to solve this problem either, so it someone could answer it, you'd be helping two people out.

The trick is to have the colours at the edge fade. There is a tool in Photoshop that does this called Extract. You find it in the Filter menu. Sometimes the result isn't the best, but they let you refine it (before you click OK).

or when you use the lasso tool set the feather to 1px. then cut it out as close as you can around the object and when you copy the selection or delete the stuff outside of the selection it'll have a nice edge.
