Script for an individual link counter?

Im looking for a script for a friends site, to display how many times people click a link to a specific site.

Basically, like a counter for one specific link.

I have no idea what Id use to acheive this effect, but I asume it would require a java, css, or pearl script (although i could be wrong).

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
