"shadow" borders on websites (1 shadow on each side of the site)
i was wondering how to get a shadow on each side of a site, for example http://www.teamx6.net/
i can get it on one side, and i've tried to make 2 seperate layers, each with opposite shadows, but it doesn't work. thanks for any help.

Are you using layer styles? If so, just set the distance on Drop Shadow as 0. (On a rectangle, for example)
You could also take a soft brush, make a line, lower the opacity, then take the rectangular marquee tool with a feather and remove a bit of the side for a fade. Duplicate the layer and flip it horizontally for your opposite side, then put them under the sides of your layout.

first of all, within photoshop... must make background... then shadow... slice it up
start off with a image 400 px wide X 400 px high
make that special background on a layer set [multiple layers in one set]
then make a layer that you will apply the shadow to via layer style or layer manipulation
first slice will be left side background and second slice will be right side bacground then on to the shadow section... you must see the procedure now...
if not... take a tutorial

heres an example:
make a shape on a blank image...any shape and fill it in with any color but black or white
next copy the layer so you have 3 layers (including background)
on the second layer (the middle layer)....select it and fill it black
filter->gausian blur by 5 or w/e suits it...
then you get that effect...
do the same for the websites bg

If for some reason you don't like the zero distance look (I love it myself) uncheck global lighting in the shadow window and have two seperate layers each giving off their own shadow.
