Google Wallet May Compete With PayPal

What are your thoughts on this? Is Google becoming an Internet monopoly?

My thoughts, Google is going a little to far, Are they trying to take over everything? Soon you might start seeing Google OS and Google Messenger to go with their "GMail"..

I'd definately support Google Wallet. In fact, I'd probably implement it the week the developer API gets released .

Google may be turning into a yahoo. But they are moving in a better directions. Thing about it before google and when yahoo was young it was just a search and for a while the most popular search engine. But now google has taken over that because yahoo moved and did a thousands other things including am auction "ebay" site which never got off the ground. So Google always can make anything better and if they did create a google monopoly that would be okay... wait google monopoly? I the call Car! :P

Paypal has something google doesnt, the same thing that hotmail has over gmail (all though its not as important in hotmails case).

Paypal has an established userbase, reputation, and has become an accepted means of payment. They're also "in" with amazon, and, of course, ebay.

Userbase + reputation means EVERYTHING when dealing with something like this. google is at a BIG disadvantage here. I wouldn't be suprised if this flops.

Well, Google hasn't failed me yet. So, if they do come out with an electronic payment system, I'd be more than willing to support and use it.

I agree. Many people who purchase on eBay are skeptical, but use PayPal because it is associated with it.
