infinityWdesigns, first layout attempt!

Hey all,

I was just tinkering around with a possible layout for my design website, this would be my second designed website in many, many years (I'm a bit rusty.) Opinions? Tips? Comments? As long as its constructive. Thanks!

(About the header, the gradients look weird right now, I'm still going to work on that)

The logo is a little silly, have full words, not "infinity w designs"
A bit of contrast with the headers would be nice.
Colours are a little off, play around with them a bit.
Have "About Infinity" in it's own page, not at the bottom, turn the bottom part into a footer, with copyright info maybe?

Not bad so far though Wink

I like the overall look. The title text on the sections could use a bit more contrast though, it's a little hard to pick out on the background.

Thanks everyone! Could anyone give tell me what the colors end up looking like? (Is the blue too dark, or yellow look like urine or something?) Since I'm using an LCD screen (I'm on my laptop, designing the website) the colors always end up a bit off, from what they look like on a real CRT, that is. Basically, I can't tell how the colors are messed up.

And I'll fix that "about infinity" thing in the bottom. I just ran out of ideas for text, and didn't feel like filling it up with bullshit.

are you using web safe colors?

It's going to be very difficult to have that gradient continue to the bottom of the page on very large resolutions without using a very large image. I would suggest switching the gradient from white-blue to blue-white. That way you can have a white background and that image anchored to the top.

Okay I'll fix that gradient, but I designed a more minimalist layout, better than the first or worse than the first?

I always feel when i go to a site for developement i plan on paying for, that the site i'm looking at, is a reflection of the talent, of the creator, and what i will recieve as a client.

I think possibly you should spend much more time working on the layout, add detail, and a professional feel to it.

To fix your gradiant issue (in the content area?), you can simply use layers no tables (should be using layers anyway), with overflow:auto in the properties, that way the background stays static, and define the site, might be small on much highe resolutions, but the gradient would remain.

Okay, with this new one I tried for much more simplicity and actually put in some content.

It's still just an image file, but I put it on html to get rid of those annoying margin problems
