What is the best way to create this shape in Illustrator CS?

I created this in Illustrator CS and I was wondering if someone coudl tell me the best way to create this. I know mine has uneven rounded edges and I'm not sure how to get it so it's perfect. I've tried using circles, the pen tool, and pathfinder but it didn't turn out good for me. I also tried the rounded rectangle tool then modifying the points and that didn't work well either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

trace w/ the pen tool and scale? the shift key works wonders for this.

The problem is with getting the corners to be the same diameter and making sure all the lines are perfectly straight. If you look closely at my image, the corners aren't very good and the lines aren't straight. I've tried holding shift down to make the lines straight but it didn't work out too good.

a quick idea i have is to try that metho on 1 half of the shape then use the reflect tool to mirror it then compoundpath it? i haen't done much with the mirror/reflect tool so if that gets too wierd you could try draging the layer to the new layer icon, flip it horizontally, zoom in @ 6400% line it up and add to shape in the pathfinder.

hope some of this helped.

Make the basic shape, then go to Effect > Stylize > Round Corners and pick a diameter. Quick and easy. As far as the straight lines I'd start with a rectangle and use shift when moving the corners.

hmmm it's a an idea for photoshop but who knows maybe it helps
draw a rounded rectangle with the shapes tool, rasterize, transform>perspective and you'll get this shape. then use the magic wand, select the shape and transform the selection into a path.
there you go it is vector too

It can be done in Illustrator and there's no need to rasterize Wink

In Illustrator, use the Free Transform tool. Refer to the help file if you are not familiar with the tool since it is a little bit tricky at the beginning with the combinations of keys and clicks - when to click, when to hold, when to hit the key, which key, which anchor... you get the picture.

This is the easiest way I can think of --

Turn on the grid. (View > Show Grid)

Enable Snap to Grid. (View > Snap to Grid)

Draw your shape with sharp corners using the pen tool (P). I suggest drawing it as a trapezoid to begin with. It should take five clicks to create a closed shape.

Select the object you've just drawn. (V)

Goto Effects > Stylize > Round Corners... You can set whatever radius you want there. Hit OK and voila, there you have it.

Alternately, you could probably select just the points you want to round using the Direct Selection tool (A).
