3DSM 7 question
I am just took up the job of creating a map for a 1v1 game called Painkiller and am using the 3D Studio Max 7 program to create the map. I have a question about editing box faces.
How would I go about cutting straight through a box so that its a hollow hole? I'm trying to make a hallway but its got a big slab through it right now and I dont want to have to create 3 wall sections if i dont have to. Any help please?

Not sure what the terminology is in Max, but something like Boolean operaations is what u r looking for. This would allow u to use one box to cut away another box, or something similar

create a box
convert to poly
select the polys you dont want in this case the two side ones and hit delete.
you might have to flip the normals or use a two sided material though for the hallway for the 'inside' of the box to show up - not too sure.

Create your box.
go into the polygon or face sub object mode and select any two opposing polys.
Hit delete.... in the command panel add a shell modifier and select the apropriate valies..
The shell modifier solidifies one sided objects automaticaly giving them depth and surface.
Have a nice day.
