Illustrator to Photoshop
Is there an easy way to move from Illustrator to Photoshop WITHOUT losing the quality of your work, and all of your layers?
I guess this may nto be possbile since Illus. is all vector based and photoshop is not, but I've tried all different methods of moving an illustrator file to photoshop for some work, and it looks horrbile. =[
Am I missing something in this method?

i go from illustrator to photoshop quite frequently using the export option:
file > export[as psd] > save.

Is it supposed to preserve the layers? because when the dialouge box pops up in Illus. it has a radio box that says "Save Layers"but its greyed out and will not let me select it?

Not sure why it would be greyed out. Works great for me, I've used it several times.

i don't know why it does that. i was working w/ illustrator 10 during the fall semester and i've gotten it to preserve layers before. i don't think idid anything special, i'm not sure why it does that.... after a while it started greying it out constantly for me, so i got a copy of cs from the school and it works everytime.
i don't know why it would really matter, but for curisotiy's sake, what version are you running?

I'm guessing that you are using sub-layers instead of layers (1 layer and all objects under it), and that's why it is greyed out.
If that's not the case, post the file so we can have a better look.

I don't use Illustrator (not yet anyways) but I think it's something to do with your image's settings?

no, it's the sublayer issue mentioned above. photoshop doesn't recongize those as seperate layers, soif you have the entire piece in sub layers all under layer1 then it's flattened when it's exported.
