Class project need help!!!
I am following an Illustrator class in college and I would need some guidance towards what i should do for the following project :
We have to make an object (anything) in illustrator and make it so it looks like it's in 3D althought it's not (just like a car). But i'm really bad with the pen tool and i'd need something not that hard to do and i can't think of anything!!!
can anyone help me?

Just draw an object and apply the newly established 3d effect. Get a clue, kid.

isometric
dumb, that 3d effect is useless, not worth 2 cents in my opinion... Anyway earth4x there are a few ways you can do this. What you need to do is practice with isometric cause I find this the easiest. To do this you need 2 sides and a top. Lets start with a simple box... render up 2 sides and a top. You can just make them plain squares or put graphics on them BUT if you want to put graphics on later you cant so do that now if you want to.

ok after you get this set you need to rotate the peice that you want to be your top at a 45 degree angle and this is best done by holding the shift key and rotating it.

ok now make the two peices you want to be your sides right next to each other and in line with the bottom point of your top that you moved at a 45 degree angle also create 2 guides that intersect with either side of your top as shown in the picture below. after you've done this squish your 2 side boxes to align with the guides.

now take your top and reduce its verticle size to 57.735% you do this with the scale tool in the tool pallet (just dbl click it with your top selected).

now just drag your sides to fit with the two outside points of the box then you should have something like this.

I know this looks simple right now but there are sooo many possibilities once you get the hang of this. Just take a look

yea thats one of the class assignments we had for the college I go to. The colors are usually just flat with the exception of a few gradients here and there.
