Layers palette disappeared in illustrator?????

hey, i was on illustrator one day working on some artwork as normal, i close out to take a break, then all of a sudden my layers palette had disappeared. i have tried F7 to see if it was toggled off, but it's no where to be found. and i also reset the computer right after the incident had happened but to no avail. is there a solution to this problem? it's really hard working without the layers palette when your working on an artwork.

Delete the AIPrefs file. In WinXP it is under Documents and Settings - (User) - Application Data - Adobe - Adobe Illustrator 10.
When you start Illustrator again a new file will be created.
