photoshop images for web design layout
Sorry for the topic being so blank about this, but unsure how to say it.
I see people use designs in webpage layouts....They are like images but when you right click, go to properties, youy dnt get the "*.jpeg" or whatever, you get the website address...how would they do that, like is it something in photoshop/illustrator you do or is it just placing it as a background image?
I would really like to know, because its confusing. lol
Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to an image map?

More than anything its placed using .css and or the image is set to the background tag of a div or table cell.

An example what I was talking about is on the homepage of AbolsuteCross...You have news boxes, or something like that. I know they are images or something...
When you right click and look at the url it doesn't give you the link to the image, but the to website..im wondering how you get the image like that?
If you do, do you make it as a background image? or do you do something in illustrator/photoshop which makes it like that?
That was my question.

Ah, that's just a background image as Heathrowe pointed out.

if you right click and it gives you the option of save background as... then you'll know.
You can also get the image name form that dialog box.

You have to learn css to place the pictures where you want them, and photoshop already gives you the html. ^_^

It's a link...?
When you use an image as a hyperlink to another website/page, the image will 'display' the link (website/page address) the user defines for it in the html coding. Clicking on that image will take you to the specified address.
I think that might be what you're seeing.
