action script problem

I am using Professional 2004, and I have taken a code from another website, along with the source symbols. I am currently running a webpage off of 4 scenes while using three for operating links, and one that says (sorry this link does not work). With the code that I have taken (at the author's allowance) it loads a random function that creates 'fireflies' on the screen that glow at random times. The problem, is that when the last scene is accessed by a button -gotoandStop action, the action script for the fireflies plays, but when another link is chosen that doesn't go to that frame, the fireflies continue to play. Is there some way that I can add a stop function to the buttons stop the fireflies from playing? The links that currently work are: General Info, Home, and Staff. If this is confusing, and you want to see it first hand, here is the link for the site.

This seems like a complex situation and therefore you'd probably benefit by including the fla for someone to take a look at.
