I use Notepad++. It's a pretty nice text editor with syntax highlighting for quite a few different languages.

I'm a VB.NET programmer, and other IDE seems so inferior after using Visual Studio =/

Crimson Editor is very nice. Tabbed, syntax highlighting, very light, and builtin ftp support.

It's like EditPlus2 but free.

i used zend studio and hated it. i still use dreamweaver mostly because of the looks and because i started using it. All those other features and stuff just get in the way to me. All that i really need and want in an ide is code highlighting, and superglobals to be autowritten for me (ie: i type $_ and a list of all the superglobals drops down for me to choose from)

Zend is awesome with how it handles custom objects/functions it reads them into its code highlighter so your user defined functions come down in the auto-complete list.

Personally i use textpad, it has code highlighting, and tabbed file management, thats about all i need. I'd like to get a unbloated IDE that offers a site manager, tabbed files and code highlighting, but i cant find one. They all have too many gimmicks.

I use EditPlus 2. It's not free, but it's nice. Tabbed windows, syntax highlighting for all kinds of code (HTML, CSS, PHP, C, etc.). And you can define your own highlighting and default document templates. For example, when I create a new HTML page, it automatically includes all the <head> information that I use in every site. It's a good editor (thought not really an IDE). I just use Apache/MySQL/PHP setup on my local machine for testing.

I use PHP Designer http://www.mpsoftware.dk/phpdesigner.php
Scripted isn't that bad either, but is still in early development. http://www.phpscripted.org/

And any other language seems wonderous? Wink

There are tweaks to allow php editing in vs.net with autocomplete and code folding.
