its supposed to be a banner/header for a website - also how is it ineffective? and how could i change it to make it better?

if it's a banner for a site, you have to make it fit with the site. if you're planning to make a site, it's a good idea to draw (literally) or photoshop some kind of concept so all elements will be harmonious (and do not rely heavily on slices!) you don't want to look unprofessional with a banner just filling space and not working with the rest of the layout.

hm.. i planned a bit on the site's layout already, and im going to use similiar colors (red/orangeish) throughout the website so it looks harmonious.. i already created a small layout and working to make it better
