Computer science majors in college! Need your advice.
I'm dead in the middle of college research, here's schools I'm looking at:
University of Buffalo (State University of New York system)
Pennsylvania State
Rochester Institute of Technology
Rennsalaer Polytechnical Institute
U. of Syracuse
U. of Pittsburgh
U. of Maryland
If anyone goes to any of these colleges, or maybe even any other computer-science type college in the notheast US, gimme some info on what you like about your college, what you don't like, why you picked it.
I have an odd feeling this thread will get me two replies, and at least one will be useless. It's still worth a shot, so thanks in advance if you contribute.

Give me a few years and I will be able to tell you. (yes, here's your useless post)
Wait, so are those a list of colleges you have found that people have said that they are good or that have been rated highly in the computer science department? Seems interesting because I too will definatly be doing something with computers (likely a computer programming nerd
) and would like to know as well.

They're listed in several resources as having reasonably good Computer Science departments. I've consulted US News, Gourman Report, and Rugg's Recommendations.
Before you do anything though, I suggest you get a clear understanding of exactly what you want to major in -- there are major differences between Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Systems.
Science is more coding, theory, and algorithm stuff; Engineering has a bit of coding, but it's applied to hardware and robotics, that sort of thing. IS is bascially just networking.

Yeah, thought so, but I'm not sure if I would rather be coding for my life or do something else.

I'm picking a college myself, mainly for engineering or pharmacy. For undergrad I'd just go where ever is relativly cheap and a place you like. Save yourself some money for graduate school, if you plan on graduate school.
That's what I"m doing at least.

Psh... don't go into pharmaceutical stuff in college, please. You have an amazing knowlege of computers and hardware that would be wasted. I totally see you doing engineering, or maybe an network IT guy with the big servers.

I'm looking at colleges too, and currently, from your list, I have Syracuse.
RIT is also pretty good I hear.
Currently, I'm applying to U of Illinois - Urbana Champaign and Chicago, U of Michigan - Ann Arbor and Dearborn, MSU, Syracuse, Purdue and Syracuse.
I can't remember, but I know Adam Ostrow (owner of mindsay) went and graduated from U of Maryland.

Actually i was thinking either electrical or mechanical engineering. So i could design microprocessors or make the stuff to cool them. Aswell as getting an MBA in the process.
IT doesn't really pay that much and is a pretty demanding field. I also thought about doing computer science. The problem solving part is really easy, but i can't stand debugging.
Basically i want to do somthing I like that makes good money and run a computer related buisness on the side.
I liike the idea of custom cooling solutions. I plan to start selling silent computers locally and possibly online once i get some capital.
Sorry for the mini thread jack Jeff.
