what's faster...
Hi, I'm hoping someone with experience could answer my question. I want to make a news portal site in the future and wanted to know which method would be faster... doing preg_match_all on a site, or parsing RSS. They are both pretty simple to code, but speed is important. If you know one is faster than the other, is it a noticeable difference such as a whole second? thanks.

Parsing RSS ? parsing a whole site is obviously slower since it contains other data than the content. With RSS, you're getting a bare minimum of extra junk.

RSS in php4 isn't exactly fast, but its the cleaner solution so I would use it.
