Gold Text in Illustrator ?

Hi,

I'm wondering is it possible to get this gold text effect in Illustrator
http://images.pacificpoker.com/poker/lang/en/images/top_new1.gif

I found loads for tutorials on how to do it in photoshop but i wouldn't know where to start in Illustrator.

I'm using Illustrator because I need the image to be resized without any quality loss. is there anyway I can do the text effect in photoshop and import into Illustrator and then resize it without loss of quality ?

Help much appreciated

You could make something that looks like that using a gradient. The picture you showed is made in photoshop though, there's a little bevel effect.
But with a simple gradient, you can get the orange/yellow shine. So just type the text, make a gradient with two orange colors and a yellow in the middle (window --> show gradient, or press F9), and apply it to the text. You may need to trace the outlines of the text and group it into a single object to get the shine correct.

yeah, the poker file you like was done in photoshop. but gradients could suffice, except i see a minor bevel or emboss which you can't really do in illy. gradients can give you a similar effect though, so try that first.

If youre patient enough, the highlights and shadows on the text can be drawn in with the pen tool in illustrator.

Post how if it is that easy instead of advertising your site that has no tutorials or tips for doing it at all.

advertising? you must be joking...I had a tutorial on my site on how to draw gold and silver shiny text in illustrator, the button was kinda stealth so I'm guessing thats why you didn't see it....to bad for you, its gone now.

what good is a button if it's stealth? the whole point is have people find it to click on it ... or maybe i'm missing something?
