Error connecting to database

I am running the Apache2Triad webserver/services/etc..., and I am trying to configure vBulletin, but when I try to connect to the database, it tells me...

'The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the 'includes/config.php' file."

I changed the 'config.php' file to match the database user/pass settings that I created through the phpmyadmin control panel, but I still get the error.

I'm not sure if I need to set an absolute path to the db in the config.php file or what. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you sure the database user has the priviledge to connect?
