lol... Looks like to many of us jumped right on this lol...
Anyway, I hope this isn't the case with M$. Lets just hope that some people in this world grow a heart and think over the money, and think about the quality.
And Jason1234, I know its not easy to make a program such as IE, but you know why not go a little farther? Why not push it a little harder? Why not do some more work to make an even better program?
Come on people lets not go that extra mile because its going to take us longer.:grumpy

I'm wasn't aware of the box model being fixed in IE 6. I always check my pages in IE, and the box model looks pretty borked to me.

Standards support is hugely important, whether you know about it or not.
And if you people haven't already seen the w3 browsers stats page yet, Microsoft is losing ground on its competitors such as Mozilla rapidly.

MS will be FORCED to improve CSS support, eventually, whether it's next month or next decade.
Version 2 of CSS has been in use since 1999, yet Internet Explorer still has poor support for it as of 2004. What will Microsoft do when CSS version 3 is released?
The web will evolve, using newer technologies and techniques, whether Internet Explorer is able to keep up or not.

actually, it wont
no business will employ a web developer who excludes 80%+ of their target audience (IE users) - so people will be forced to design for IE - just think, people are having to cater for NN4 even now!

They should at least implement proper support of CSS and PNG in the next version of IE. If they don't.. well that would suck obviously.
But even if they do, that wouldn't change all that much for a while to come, because fact remains that most people don't update their browser, like.. ever.
The guy is right... even now, millions of people are using version 5 browsers and it will take ages before the percentage of IE6 users becomes negligable. Hell, some people still use Netscape 4.x
Whether or not Firefox is better than IE doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of people use the latter, and really, are you making websites for yourself to look at, or for other people? If it's the latter, then you should consider the flaws of IE and build your sites so that they work for that browser as well.
Bottom line - we'll have to stay dealing with different platforms that have different results for several years to come, regardless of what IE7 will support.

Yeah, but I'm sure if you went up to them and asked if they would care if there weren't any <img> tags, or any <table>, or any <div>, they would say that they don't care if those were there and image if those were missing. We wouldn't have any good looking websites. It is just foolish to say that the regular person doesn't care about it because if you sat down and really explained it to them, then they would care.

It doesnt matter if they can use the webstandards as a marketing point or not. What matters is if they include them. Just because people dont know about something doesnt mean it is acceptable to give them an inferior product.
