How to color a design?

I just started working with Illustrator this afternoon and I drew something with the pencil tool.
Now my question is: how can I color it? Because the paint bucket tool didnt give me the right result.

All paths must be closed in order to be fully colored.

Thanks, but as I´m new to all this, how can I close all paths?

There have been quite a few threads regarding this already. I made two searches using "fill color" and "coloring" and these are the results:

Hope they help.

For that kind of drawing, you'd be better off bringing it into Photoshop and coloring it there. If youre that new to Illustrator, its not going to be easy to do it all in vector.
