All you have done is follow a tutorial...and a bad one at that. Where to start...

1) The header - not really much to comment on apart from the oversized font and the random picture. The image on the right looks a mess, I don't know what it is or why it's there. If it's a logo tidy it up.
2) The navigation box looks a mess because there isn't any order to the links, they have just been thrown in there. Just line them up, one on each line and it will be better. Also lose the white stroke around the text.
3) Make a better Guestbook button. I couldn't read the text on only realised it was a guestbox after clicking on it.
4) I assume the right two boxes are empty because you followed the tutorial to the word and when it came down to it you didn't need those boxes so you've left them. Tip: If you re going to follow tutorials to make your site, don't follow them exactly throw a bit of variation in there.

This is horrible.
-Top logo is really pixelly and choppy
-All the links are thrown on
-Side boxes are oddly aligned and spaced
-Some bad spelling, but oh well
-guesbook button is barely legible
-the verson number is impossible to read

I think it'd be better to start over.

ok, thank you. and while we r here, I've always had a problem with the layout, ie: I cannot type a lot else the pictures will space out and make things even worse. why is this? and how can I avoid it?

Yeah, that looks PRETTY bad. Especially because...wtf...there random people in the background of the tables. I don't like that, that's terrible looking. also, take the pixel fonts off of "smooth". Everyone does that! It make it look like CRAP.

Learning HTML before CSS is a good idea. It provides them with atleast some understanding and base. Remember, most people are very stupid when it comes to scripting or graphics, or even computers. I've seen clients that if you moved their IE icon on their screen they wouldn't beable to use IE until you showed them how to again.

I think I have seen a tutorial similar to making something exactly like that. I don't remember it was back when I was a n00b.
