Magazine illustration
Hello!
I want to learn how to illustrate magazine pages and newspapers. I've been doing some google searches, and seems like a good tool can be adobe illustrator. However, it'd be really helpfull if I could find some sites that would teach me some techniques, some do/donts etc..
Thank you.

Illustrations can be done in any program. Illustration doesn't exactly mean graphics created with Illustrator or other vector graphics, it can be made with any media. If you are in fact talking about vector based illustrations, then yes, Illustrator is great for that.
Now if you are talking about making page layouts, then I would recommend InDesign. However, it is not something that you learn over the net, there are a few tricks here and there but the best way to learn it is by taking design courses - the important thing is to know about layout design, not about softwares.

Idea Boook is quite a nice site. The article about grids is very good and it is one of the most important things you should know about when building a layout. But, as I said before, if you are really interested in learning go after "off-line" courses.

For layout look into Quark and InDesign. I prefer Indesign myself.
This link might also be helpful. It has the basics of layout and goes into typography a bit.

BTW Ideabook is an awesome site. I bookmarked that without hesitation.
