Help With Vectors

I used some shapes with the shape tool and my problem is the shapes are coming out my image. Heres a example: http://www.silentpixel.com/images/image1.jpg

I want to delete the outside of the shape. What i mean is do you see the check? i want to delete the part thats hanging outside the rounded rectangle. But everytime i do that i get a message saying could not complete request because the content of the layer is not completly editable.

Then when i try to rastersize it and delete it i get this: http://www.silentpixel.com/images/image2.jpg

Can anyone help me ?

Are you doing this on seperate layers? Is your vector a selection / fill or a path?

maybe leave it on and once you've saved it for the web, you could crop out the shape? or, could you somehow select the area that you want to keep from the shape and then erase it?

oh yeah, I think that you may need to rasterise the fill content and then apply the mask..

If I rasterize it and then add a mask It turns the whole image the color of the shape. Oh and I used the fill not path.

From your first example, Highlite the top layer, the one with the check. Merge down (Ctrl+E). Then use your rounded rectangle shape tool again, this time change the mode to "Paths", and retrace the white rounded rectangle. Go to the Paths pallette and right click on Work Path, and select Make Selection.and hit OK. Finally, press Ctrl+Shift+I, to invert the selection, and hit Delete. Voila!Wink

Why don't you make a layer clipping group? ALT+Click the line between the two layers... you'll have the vector shape intact, so you can move it, yet, it will not show on the transparent areas...

What you need to do is select Fill Pixels, when you default use vector shapes its set at Shape Layers.

These buttons are found in the Tool Options toolbar. (this is the menu below the normal File | Edit etc menus)

Yes, sometimes the solution is simple, but we find other workarounds... Technically, your solution works, too... Wink
