Personally I don't like this kind of images.
But I will give credit for the creative and original side.
A well done image, too bad it isn't my piece of cake

Im sorry its not your cup of tea. But hey, I met the brief so i'm
happy. I have to say, I do like illustration and traditonal graphic
design than doing this, although it really does give me a chance
to throw a variety of skills together. Illustration, hand drawn
media, experimentiation with materials. It all adds up in the end.
The image is a bit lo-res on here because I didn't have time to
scale it down properly in photoshop. The original is 20cmx20cm
which is nice n large.

Its pretty good, the black spraypaint around the man is way distracting/bad though. I'd bag that

I agree with ya but i would try to use a different color then black. It doesnt go with the image and throws everything off. You could always use a dark purple or blue would do the same and look alot better. You could also use a shadow to make the guy stand out alittle more if ya wanted.

Thats funny that. I didn't think so either, so I done two prints
a purple and a black (ink colour). I held both up and all my friends on the
course all said 'black'.
Maybe its just because you get a better view when its printed.
Try it and see what you think. I still think my purple one was nicer.
I dont have the file with me now so i cant edit it, its on the col
computers. But if i get a chance Ill put up a fix tomorrow.
A shadow is a no for this piece. And that guy is me. lol.
See other portrait post.

interesting, so .... you scan all images in seperatly then combine them in psp? or are some already put together on paper then scanned in?
i guess what i'm getting at is, how do you know what's it's going to look like before hand? or do you just have a rough idea and just experiment a bit to get the look you want?
i'm interested in how you put something like that together.
because some of the images already looked combined in the background.
pretty cool look. i kinda like the black myself, but would be interested in the purple to compare.
is the class your taking GD or computer design? or both?
good work, i like it.
i still love how it looks like a scan of something done by hand.
(heh, scanned by your hand. isn't that a song?)
cool stuff.

Hey, good response. The course that I?m doing is graphic design. I came on the course knowing its what I want to do because I already had the skills I needed beforehand. You see, I?ve always picked up these things real fast. Right from when I started a good 3-4 years ago. And after that long you seem to gain this ability to see things before you do them.
The answer is yes, I had a good idea what I wanted it to look like, because when I start playing with media, i.e.- the ink, the rest sort of flows in. Its just inspiration in its purest form.
When putting it together I started with the ink splatters, and the circles behind me, both using a piece of equipment that could move the ink and spray it onto a surface. Then after that, in this series (4 in total), I had looked into interior object coming off out to exterior environments (the lines on my top), so I made the jump off and had pre-decided that these would go through the rings.
The rest like the buildings and background effects really do just come to me. And to be honest, there?s nothing more pleasing than to create something you can see in your head for real and put it into a page. Even if you don?t have the talent surely everyone has seen something in their head and felt the need to draw it at some point.
Work like this is very ?in? right now, combining illustration with traditional media. I didn?t even notice myself until my graphics tutor pointed out that I am influenced by just about anything and when I see this stuff I always want to restyle it into what I imagine it to be.
It?s like that
Oh and btw, the course involves graphics, art, photography and digital design as well as typography all made into one graphics course. These together make the course.
Thanks
Adam
