A Storm and...

Now my computer is apparantly fried...it turns on but I get nothing on the screen whatsoever. I'm guessing I'm pretty screwed, but I was just curious if any of you guys have some advice as to going about finding how I could recover and possibly repair my computer. I built it myself so there's no warranty. Any helpful thoughts?

bad moniter?

My dads did something like this the other day, I found out it was just way over heated.

Get 2 comps, take out all the stuff in your "bad" comp, take 1 peice and replace it on the "good" comp. See if it works. and keep doing this with all the parts till you find something that screw up. Then you will find out your problem.

Good suggestion and I'll probably end up replacing each part. The funny thing is the other computers upstairs were still on this morning and mine was the only one off (I always leave it on). I was thinking the power went out last night but now that doesn't make sense.

I had that happen to me once..Turned out I killed something on the Mobo. Problem was, it was a 5yr old HP Micro Tower. To get a new Mobo, it would cost about $399 CDN (the don't make them any more), and to ship it would be another $299 CDN..It really sucked.
