How secure is it?
I was just wounder how secure folder proecting is? If you dont know aht im talking about you can look at the image. I just wanted to know if there is stuff out there that people can use to by-pass it. And if it isnt what is the sucurest to protect your folder?

ur doing it through a htaccess file aren't u?
'cos this type of box can also be pop-ed up using PHP.
But its probably as secure as your gonna get it, without giving the user, say 3 attempts ONLY per set ammount of time so that hackers can't brute force attack the login script.

Well im making a admin panel for my site and I wanted to know if it whould protect my folder. And im not using htaccess or php im using the section provided in the cpanel. So...

You can protect the folder in chmod permission like /images that people cannot access it, it'll say forbidden

An example of what Pixeltiger is talking about, in shell you can do:
chmod -R 750 images
This will allow the owner of the folder (you) to read/write/execute, while the rest of the world cannot (IE through a web browser)
