Indexing common terms...

I have a log and I am trying to index the most common terms in it...but i can't seem to find an easy way to do this.

Are there any functions that can do this easily?

Can you explain what you mean by index the most common terms a bit more?

well im trying to get usernames from a game log so that i can make some stats. So, by indexing I mean i want to add the most frequent terms to a database.
