Fading Reminiscence (Blog)
I just whipped this up with the help of a friend (I usually code and he's the artist you could say) and I'm working on the backend to add content. It's themed and related to the mainsite and one of our focuses until the magazine goes online.
The theme is supposed to be somewhat simple so it's fairly easy on the eyes and it should be fast to load. The reason I'm proud about this is because it's my first tableless design and I'm fairly close to obtaining valid html code. I know I have a bit to work on but I have the css down for now so I'm kinda excited about that. It should also work in both IE (which was a pain to fix) and firefox with subtle differences.

Sweet CSS design you've got there! Nice one! The colour scheme is great and eye-pleasing. I love the red/black backgorund texture!
The only thing I would change is the header's title text, make it crisper, choose another font, that wavy grungy one just doesn't cut it.
Also, nice logo, I love it. The idea of having 2 parallel blogs of 2 different people rather than having your entries in the same blog is a great idea, it's like comparing personalities... and each blog has its respective owner's pic ontop, that's a great idea!
Nice and original site, good job for that!

Great looking site.
If it were my site I would work on those thick borders in between the content. The reduce the site's appeal for me. Do you know what I mean? The border between the "Updates" box and the two boxes of content below it is huge. The line between the two boxes of content is also huge. And I don't like that very much. This is just a personal opinion.
Also, I don't like the way the page ends. A footer would be cool and if both content boxes were the same size itt would also be cool.
Good job.

Over time, if you learn anything about me, it will be that second-guessing me about my assumptions is a sucker's game. I know what i know, and have the intelligence to know what i don't, and i have the winning percentage to back up my beliefs.

Goes like this...
I'm a sucker for silhouettes but they don't fit here. With that nostalgic background, you need to go with a banner with a nostalgic slant.
Here's an excellence example of what I'm talking about: http://www.24-7media.de/
hmmm.

Thanks for all the great comments everyone. I agree that there are definately areas for improvement and you suggested some things that I never would have looked at. Anyway Anarchy does the graphics except for that background, which is only temporary and is from Kaliber 10 000. A footer, a little variation in graphics and hopefully some more blogs are all in the works but I still need to finish up the backend.
Also, did anyone notice any firefox/IE issues? I know that it looks slightly different in IE because of the css use, but I seemed to fix the margin problem I was having earlier.

I was really liking the layout until 2deep brought to our attention that the background wasn't crafted by you guys. That was probably my favorite part of the site.
So now, I just like the site.
My one suggestion would be to make the last horizontal row of your header containing your aliases one solid color or a semi-transparent color as opposed to fully transparent.
Also, you need to patch up a few coding errors and make your site valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional because it isn't verifying.

That's an awesome idea with the two blogs side by side. Maybe you should make the border between them more sophisticated than just thick black borders?
Good work.

Alright here's an update for all you background lovin' folks. I simply love what Anarchy was able to do here and it worked out really well for us. He actually made the background this time, since he didn't have time before and I'm not a graphics person.
The big update is actually the backend (I'm working on the php system to add blogs through an admin panel), which you can't really see.
Anyway I'm still looking for comments on the overall appeal and suggestions on how to make this baby standards compliant.
