Apple Script - Convert PSD

I have recently been given the task of doing a colour to black and white convert of a .psd file BUT *gasp at the though* i cant use the simple action tools in photoshop, but have to create an applescript to do this for me.

I was wondering if anyone has ever used applescript for something of this nature? or something similar - or can direct me to some sites that can help me.

I myself am a pc user and have trouble accessing mac's, i have done a good search and read some documentation about it, but still am a bit confused about this process..
