Creating curves

How do i create nice and sleek curves? I've tried drawing one on my own using the brush and pencil but it looks real ugly. The only method I'm using now is to type a 'S', place it to a bigger font size and style it. Any more methods?

Use the polygonal lasso tool to create a long triangle shape, fill the selection with color. Then go to filters>distort>shear and drag the top part of the line to the left and the bottom part to the right. This step will depend on the look you are going for. You could also use the pen tool which I would prefer because you have a larger amount of control.

Its interesting what you can all achieve with the pen tool and using all kind of brush settings (scatter...)
