"Reflection"

I have been trying to make a "reflection" image. I have 2 different tutorials, but on the last part of the directions, it says to save as a new layer and i can't because it's greyed out. This is suppose to let me put for example, a womans face reflecting in a glass building. Please help, or if you know of another tutorial, send it. Thanks Kari

Reflection tutorail help

Hi, here is the url to one of the tutorials, i have 2 different tutorials, thats all i have been able to find. They seem really simple, but i can't get them to work.

http://members.tripod.com/FromTheCat/imageFX/reflect/reflect.html

The problems i have are:
1. When they say to use the "red" i can't get red in my color palette, it has all the colors that are in the image only. So i used the lasso, and hope i'm doing it right.
2. When the tutorial says to save as new layer at the last, i don't have that option, it's grayed .
Hope you can help me. Thanks Kari

Few things.

When they say 'use the read', they are talking about following the instructions is red. These directions do not show the best way to do it. Use my cropping tutorial ( http://www.zimmertech.com/tutorials_crop.html ) to select the flower.

You don't save as a new layer, you paste as a new layer. This should be Ctrl-L.

I gtg, so if you have any more questions, post a reply and I can help some more. Have a great day.

I have tried this tutorial over and over and nothing seems to work. I just can't seem to do it. Sad But i have the url to the other tutorial i had found here :http://www.sumrallworks.com/freebies/buttonhole/psp/tutorials/reflection/
that is the tutorial i am trying to do, but i am uncertain what they mean by some of it. example: Work it until the entire area inside the "red" lines is selected. By using the lasso tool, i can get the dotted line around where i want it, but am i suppose to get it all inside that? I downloaded their images to do this, Anyway, i guess i should give up on it, but i sure would like to be able to do this tutorial. Please help if you can. Thanks again, Kari

Sorry it took a while to reply, I was busy yesterday.

Find how large the image is (if you don't know, go to Image | Image Information). Disregard the red line thing, I have no idea why they did that. Instead, select the area you want with the lasso (point to point will work best). Then go to selections | save selection to disk (depend on the version of psp, but under the selection menu). Then go to your other image, and go to image | resize, and set it to the size around the size of the other image. Then go to Edit | Copy. Now swith to the original image and go to Edit | Paste as New Layer. Now in the layer pallette, change the opacity to around 25%.

This isn't exact, but should put you on the right path.
