Complex Graphics?
Hello,
I have a quick question...
I have been designing graphics and websites for a few years now. When it comes to less complex work I can handle it no problem. I'm basically at my "peak" of what I can do and I'm becoming quite limited as to how advanced I can make my graphics. I'm looking to expand. I see graphics like these all over the Internet:

I'm referring to the top header (blue lights with stars, etc). How exactly would I go about making something like that? What programs would I use and what plugins or techniques? I understand it's probably done with different pictures and layers but I've attempted it quite a few times with poor results.
Would anyone care to help answer my questions? Thanks very much!

hmm... i'd say there are several techniques to get a result like that... make something abstract on 3dsmax, editing it on photoshop (blurring, blending modes, lightning effects etc..) or you can just start making it from scratch with purely photoshop.
it's still possible... also, you can find some kind of a "nebula" tutorial (google) and remove some parts of it with the erares, change the hue/saturation to somewhat the same blue as that, add some white dots, micro text etc... i think that would work.. just take your time with it

It's randomization, so you get something like that by fiddling around and coming up w/something that looks good by accident - atleast that's how most images like that are conceived.
The techniques are just your regular ol layer masks and things of that sort.

You can check out some of the on site tutorials on www.tutorialman.com and www.shiver7.com
But I have to agree with Jadedchron, Alot of it is just creativity and randomness.. Break it down into elements and go from there.

I think I've improved on my graphic skills. I worked all day yesterday and came up with this site.

What do you think? Any good? Just one thing. I'm using mouseovers for the menu & how can I make it load and respond faster? The mouseovers seem to be very slow. Thanks!

Well, a few things:
1. I doubt you will find business w/prices starting at 199 at your skill level - unless it's just a fake site, then w/e
2. "What do you think? Any good?" if you want a site review, post it in the site review section, but personally, I don't think it's very good.
3. "how can I make it load and respond faster?" You should ask this in the clientside section - more appropriate feedback that way.

Hey... Thanks for the input.
1. I've made up to $1200.00 USD for my sites so finding business isn't a problem.
2. I did post it in the review section.
3. Thanks, I'll do that.
Thanks again.
Regards.
