Just curious, any idea why in a graphic firms we are not allowed to show in house work present in our own portfolio site ? Is it like an agreement sort of thing ?

because anything done inside/for the firm belongs to the firm, they hold the copyrights to all work you do through them.

Depends entirely on the contract you signed

That's very unreasonable. Most design agencies I know let their designers show their work in their portfolios, even after the leave the firm.

Doesn't matter. If you work for a company, weither sub contractor or emplyee and you sign an agreement, you basically are creating graphics on their behalf and whatever you create, belongs to the company. You've been paid for your work.

A sub contractor I work with charges me a sub contractor fee for this reason which I'm fine with it. So maybe that will give you guys an idea if you are a sub contractor.

i believe that according to internet copyright laws or whatever they are called, any work you do while you are working for someone is their intellectual property (they own the copyright)

what they do with the copyright is up to them,i'm sure that some let the people that work for them have the copyright and do with their work as they wish, but some dont do that.

I am prolly just not geting it or so but I tought a portfolio was a showcase of what you've done to show the skills of you and not what you've sold yourself (not trough a company)...but then I am prolly just really dumb

what I mean is that in case you sell a layout here in example then you can't show it in your portfolio because someone else owns the rights to it then?
