how do i do those trendy backgrounds

ive searched and searched but i haven't got far cos i dont even know what theyre called.

can anyone tell me how to make those antique wallpaper style backgrounds??

e.g.

and ive also attached an example of a pattern i got from a site which i cant for the life of me find.

Where is the confusion? Just make the pattern and repeat it ...

dont repeat it.. just save it as a pattern. then select the thing u want to color with that pattern.. and then go to fill with pattern button. and it makes it for u.

I think you should experiment with some leaf-shapes and the offset filter

Well, obviously he wants to make his own. heh.

I'd suggest going to the Adobe Exchange site and looking at shapes and brushes - maybe find one that looks "antiquish" and then make a pattern out of it. You might even be able to find real antique wallpaper designs via google image search and then just make a pattern out of one off of that.

just make like a 50x50 image and experiment with the pencil tool and make sure your edges match up how you want them to... you can be pretty original with your patterns... i remember seeing some site where all people do is make tiles and post em up... i'll see if i can find it and hit it back up here...
