I have a Sony DSC F505V - I with it had some more features, and a viewfinder... but aynway

Anyone here recommend any specific Digital SLR cameras?

Ive got one of the new digital rebels. Very nice camera. I really have no complaints about it. It has a good feel to it (heavy duty plastic) for the body, lens mount is metal so no worries there. Most importantly the images are good quality.
