In PSP7 you can use the Freehand selection tool set to Point-to-Point, feather =0 & antilias checked, and select the part of the image that you want to keep. Invert the selection and hit delete to remove the background (be sure to work on a raster layer instead of the background layer otherwise when you hit delete the background will be replaced by a color; to promote the background layer to raster simply find this option on the Layer menu).
Not a very easy process if you aren't used to that tool yet, but unfortunately PSP7 doesn't offer great support for this kind of wok.

OR

Create a vector object surrounding the image you want to keep and create a selection for it (Selections - From Object). Not so different from the Freehand process but this way you can always edit the shape so that your selection looks better.

Hope this helped Smile

I came up with a technique that seems to work quite well. I take the lasso tool, cut out the image I want to work with, then make the cut out a new layer over the background I am working with. Then I take the eraser brush, set the size to between 15 and 30, depending on the amount I have to erase, then I erase the excess material up to the outline of the object I am keeping. Remember that the smaller your eraser brush is, the closer and finer you can get to the object without comprimising it's outline. Once I have done that, I set the transparency of the layer I am working with if I want a transparency effect, then blend the layers when I am ready for the final product.

Hope that helps you some.
