Abstract in Photoshop
Over time i've lost a lot of my skill in Photoshop, back to the point of where i am an absolute n00b with it. I've tried getting back to old form from making more work, but it's just not working out. What would you suggest would be the best way for someone to get better with abstract art? Anything like joining an Art Group, joining certain Art communities, etc. I also want to get better with Photoshop because i start a College course in Adobe Photoshop in the next 2 months, and i don't want to end up failing it.

It's not really possible to practice when you don't have a clue on what you are doing. I could spend months just drawing crap with a round brush, which is why i need a way to learn how things are done, etc. I was always one of those people who ended up using 3dsm for every background for the last 6 months, and now i don't have a clue on how to do anything good with Photoshop.

most abstract is done with 3dsm, PS is usually only used to add text or maybe some airbrushing...
abstract is too general a question mate.... post an example at least....

Read a book, the help file, tutorials - all of which practice is revolved around. And if you're joining a college course... the purpose of going to college is to learn the material, so if you pay attention then I don't see why you would fail.

OK i guess i was a tad too general with my question. One other thing i've been wishing to do was Photo Manipulation, which is covered mostly in the College course, the reason for me trying to learn before is that i want to be ahead of the game to ensure success with the course.

success is never a guarantee in my experience,
from my experience, if you learn before hand, then your probably find the course boring and a waste of time...if the course is like most PS course...

I'd probably blow my brains out if I had to sit through a photoshop course - unless it was like an advanced honors class or something.

It's only an hour a week for 10 weeks, and you get a nifty certificate out of it, so it's all worth it. Plus this course is an intermediate course, which is why i want to gain some kind of firm base on my knowledge before taking the course. Once i've done that, then i can take the Advanced class.
