Is the CS upgrade worth getting?

I currently own Photoshop 7 and I was wonering if the CS upgrade was worth the $170 price tag?

my take is, doing web stuff with it, then not worth upgrading

I say it's worth it. There are a lot of hidden or unnoticed things that were fixed among other things, but if you are not an advanced user then you probably won't notice.

one of the main reasons i want to upgrade is because you can type text on a path, its a whole lot easier. lol

You can type text on a path in Illustator? :P, I kind of 'aquired' photoshop CS and the difference was little to none. What annoyed me was that my scroll wheel no longer zoomed in/out instead it panned up and down, this instantly made me think twice about the program

The text along a path is usefull but apart from that it's just something else to have to get used to. I stayed with PS7.

Maybe get CS yeah, but i wouldn't pay for it ;-D.,

One thing I really like about PS CS is that you have the ability to preview multiple filters on an image w/o you actually applying the filters to it.

Ive been thinking of upgrading from v7 to CS but having looked at whats new/different i really dont think its worth it. In my opinion there isn't enough thats new or improved really. Unless a new release has major major changes and improvements i simply dont see the point in spending the money on it. Will wait untill the nex version or even the version after that comes out.

I think its worth it, if you can use PS 7 really good than you can use CS flawlessly, heh. It organizes things a lot better than in previous versions and the speculations for the effects is really cool because you can try out any filter and see what it will do (this setup is different, more indepth than before) without actually applying the filter yet. Worth the upgrade.
