I think you need to work on compositing your image so it's pleasing to the eye. I'm pretty sure you've heard of the rule of thirds and balanced images and so on.

None of the photographs do much for me, to be honest. The poolside ones seem as if you took a random snap when you walked by and slapped on a monotone to "improve" it. There are times when monochromatic images lay bare the emotions in the photograph and cut the colour, making the image crisp. But in this case, it does nothing.

You probably need to experiment a bit more, take your time. Learning all this stuff doesn't come easily. Give yourself room to make errors. But keep at it. Eventually, you'll find your own style.
