i used to listen to hip-hop a lot... USED to... it's gotten so fake and redundant now... recycling old r&b and soul beats... using tv theme music... rappin about sex, drugs and "hos"... you know what's funny is that a lot of women like it even though it's talkin about "smack my ho" or some bullcrap like that... every once in a while i'll listen to some... but that's just the really good old stuff or some of the underground stuff like common, talib kweli or black eyed peas... i'd say i listen to more rock now so i'm voting for rock... i gotta give my big ups to reggae though..

i like non "gangsta rap" type hip hop. but i'm more into rock.

I'm a rock man myself. mostly german rock at this point. Rammstein and Megaherz mostly. some old hip hop is decent but now its just the same crap again and again. if it wernt for slightly diffrent lyrics it would be almost impossible to tell some of them apart.

I don't like rock music so much so but I definitely DON'T like hip-hop. Those hip-hop music videos...I mean, isn't that a LITTLE bit old idea to use cars, money and womans??? just a LITTLE perhaps...those videos are so sad.

I'm balanced on rap and rock, as there are a few rock bands out there that stand above the rest with their musical talent and compisition ability(tool, nickleback, metallica) while I do have a good deal of respect for origonal rap artists that have also proven their talent in transfering their emotions onto paper. (emeniem, tu pac)

However, the majority and mainstreamed rock I have strayed from because of the follow reasons:

1. They didn't write it, joe blow did wrote it for them to preform

2. duh-duh-duh-duh on the bass over and over again. talent guys. it's $20 a week for lessons.

3. an obbsession with money, and using it to buy helicopters, tanks, bling*bling, and then have hoes over

4. resampled loops that so and so used from so and so and then gave the other rapper props to resample it from so and so

On a side note, intelligent techno, experimental techno, celtic/dark celtic are my main forms of musical enjoyment.

I have found that I really like almost every genre of music once Iu get past all the mainstream stuff. I listen to a lot of hip hop, a lot of rock, a lot of techno and a bit of country/folk. I would have to say that 90% of the stuff you see on TV is pretty bad. Don't assume that all rap is bad just because of the crap you see on TV. If you want to find good music, look below the surface. I hate to sound elitist or anything, but I think the best music can be underground.
