Resize the image?

Okay, got a question, and as I'm not supposed to post PS ?'s in the Beginner's Corner, here I am.

I'm using Photoshop 7. What I want to do is resize an image within a graphic area. This is what I do, mainly. Right-click, copy an image, then paste it in there. Now, I want to resize it and then add another image to that same file. When I say resize, I mean just the PICTURE, not the canvas.

If anyone can help, that'd be great. Shocked

EDIT--TRANSFORM .

then either enter numbers in the options bar or grab a handle and drag a handle to enlarge or shrink th contents of a layer.

(beware: you will get some distortion of the image, fact of raster life)
