Wireless Network Help
Ever since I got a wireless network running through out my house I have noticed that every few minutes I get huge lag spurts where it seems like my internet just stops for a few seconds. This doesn happen on the computer that is directly connected to the router though. Is there something I can do where I don't get these huge lag spurts wirelessly? I've talked to some people that have a wireless connection and this doesn happen them but it does increase there lag a little but doesn't get these huge pauses every few minutes.

What type of wireless equipment do you have? There's a possibility that it's interfering with other things (esp. cordless phones) If this is the case, try changing the channel in the setup of the router.

i doubt it but someone could be stealing your bandwidth.
like i can steal some of my neighbor's next connection if i felt like it.

I don think anything is interfering with it because even when I'm not using any of that stuff it still affects it. And nobody is stealing my bandwidth because my neighbors are not smart enough to do that and there is nobody outside in a car. Any other ideas?

I have wireless and get that too, sometimes it is just because my body is blocking the way as my computer is basically on the edge of the range for it. Sometimes it just acts dumb like that tho.
I have another problem tho, i am the only one on wireless at my house and a lot of time the internet dies for me and no one else then i go and unplug the router and replug it and it will work. it used to be ok on ME (only die maybe once a day), but a week ago i reformated and installed XP and sometimes it will die every ten minutes which is really freaking annoying. anyone know why?

Well I fixed the problem for me I updated my drivers which made the lag a lot better. And with your internet dying whut I do is unplug and then replug and it should work, also when you unplug leave it off for at least half a minute if not more. And just leaving your computer shut off for a couple hours can also fix it and have it run a lot better.

I use a netgear USB adapter. MA101 is the type but they don sell this type anymore since it came out last year and now they have a more advanced version.

Sounds like your using type 'B' you should consider upgrading to 'G'
Apparently 'G' is less restrictive to problems both of you have had. I do not agree with the USB adapter though, even if it is USB2.0
