*nix or *nux: vsftpd (very secure file transfer protocol daemon)

It's origonally from OpenBSD and thus VERY secure. It has an exellent configuration file in terms of comments and understandability as well as amazing load handling.

win* : Bulletproof FTP (aka BPFTP) even if it costs money it is the best damn ftp server ive come across. real time monitoring, easy user setup, easy directory setup, log generation and monitoring, and perfect load handling. try the demo if you don't want to pay for it

I use BulletFTP at home for server software. Works pretty well, has a bunch of useful options.

Meteor FTP is decent I used to use it... u can get it off of Download.com I THINK i spelt it right.... Wink

it has simple features like logs and easy user setup etc... its not loaded with tons of features but it gets the job done its good if ur looking for a nice simple ftp server software...

its very easy to use....
