I don't think anyone said erasing is better than a mask, but to answer your question it can be better if the only thing you'll be doing is removing a part of an image (permanently) then it could be faster switching to the eraser tool than a mask - other than that, it's generally a good idea to work with masks etc.

Layer mask will help, but erasing can be more precise and if you want an abstract shaped-blending or whatever, than how will layer mask help?

Erasing is not more precise than a mask and vice versa. Masks are not permanent, whereas erasing is - once you close the document you don't have a history state.
