Digital Painting>>Bravehart

Hey there all.
I know, it doesn't look like Wallace. I think I may go back and do an overhaul on the face. For reference I used the DVD cover with some slight deviations. Anyway, I'd really appreciate any C&C anyone may have at this point. Thanks. Smile

...ill just list some of the stuff:

- there should clothing folds around his left arm, the belt, the leather padding thing, and his legs. it looks like the fabric is just floating there.

- the perspective makes the pose look very weird.

- theres like 5 different light sources around the body.

- thats one big sword if one of his hands takes up 1/4 of the handle.

- the heads kinda small compared to the body.

OK, this can all be summed up in about 7 words. "Work on your proportions and light sources." You should get a reference photo before doing somthing. Also it looked like you dodged and burnt it to hell. Don't dodge and burn skin, it doesn't look correct. Use a low opacity airbrush to shade. That is all.

Don't burn/dodge, use the paintbrush.

Your proportions and lighting are way off on everything.

The brush work is messy. The fabric defies the laws of gravity.

If you're new to digital painting, start with something other than the human form until you get the basics down. In the mean time, study a few anatomy books.

It doesn't look bad. It looks untrained/inexperienced. I see potential with some practice/education.
