Making a depressed look
Hi,
How do i make a depressed metal look?
Kinda like the panels at http://www.taigkhris.com (the ones that slide open, then slide back.
I want to know how to:
Make teh initial look (Thats when the panel first look like, so the user can know theres a panel there),
Then i want to knwo how to make it look "depressed" just as it was about to go under and slide away.
Thanks
abxccd:)

As meteroa said, the animation was done in flash, but the 'depressed' look I think your talking about is just shadows that give it the illusion of being inset. There are a variety of differnt ways to do it, the 'out of the box' solution would be to use an inner shadow layer style on the part you want to be inset and the other one would be to use a light airbrush and gradually build up shadows around the edges.

Make a layer under and fill it same shape w/ black then deselect and gaussian blur it
or
go to layer styles and add a drop shadow
----
brushed metal: http://www.philoader.net/6/tut_brushedm.shtml
----
to get it to "bevel up" just make a new layer on top and use pencil tool w/ 1px width foreground color white and draw a line on the left edges of your shape
change layer blending mode to softlight
and/maybe/if/you/want add a bevel on right side w/ black on same layer so its softlighted on the right side
select your shape on layer on top go edit>stroke by 1 pixel inside, drop transparency down
I guess. Sorry for scatteredness.. gather what you need.. you should see more or less where its going =\

See attached. If that's what you are talking about, then I can make a tutorial for you (yes i'm bored). Most of the generalized stuff is posted above though.

Yeah, I'll do it later tonight.
BTW, after looking at that image again, as well as the site, the buttons remind me of sideways envelopes w/the red stamps... heh
