Telnet access... Telnet keeps freezing... :(

I'm trying to get a basic understanding of Perl/cgi but telnet keeps freezing whenever I try to connect to a remote system. My host has cgi support and everything...

Am I entering in the wrong hostname or what?

Does your host have telnet support?

And you try to use telnet because... I don't see the connection between Perl and telnet.
